Moffat School and the Crestone Charter
School: Exciting Choices Available in the
Moffat Consolidated School District.
The Moffat Consolidated School District
has a great deal to offer, both because of and
despite its small size. With only a little more
than 200 students in the district, our schools
provide excellent teacher-pupil ratios and a
great deal of individualized instruction. Moffat
is the smallest district in the state of Colorado
to offer a charter school option. The Moffat
School, a Pre-K through 12th grade school on
one campus, offers a more “traditional” school
program, while the Crestone Charter School
(CCS), located about ten miles east of Moffat,
provides a K-12 program based on an “expeditionary”
charter.

Moffat School offers the Core Knowledge
curriculum for grades K-8, a college-prep high
school curriculum with excellent electives,
including foreign language, industrial arts, art, drama, music and computer technology in all
classes. CCS emphasizes individual education plans
for each student, outdoor education, and exciting
educational field trips. Both schools have a rigorous
approach to student success and academic achievement,
with a wide range of athletic, outdoor, and
community programs.
Moffat students participate in a variety of academic,
artistic, and athletic programs throughout the San
Luis Valley, such as Knowledge Bowl, Future Business
Leaders of America, State Science Fair, History Day, “We the People” Constitutional Competition, National
Ocean Science Bowl, sports teams, art shows, skiing,
snowboarding and more. CCS students participate in
community mentorships in areas as wide ranging as
clothing design, foreign language, martial arts, law
enforcement, office clerkships, snowboarding, art,
construction, horseback riding, creative writing, and
dance. Students raise funds for yearly field trips that
take them throughout the nation and the world.
